Holidays with Punch Party in NYC Featuring Top Mixologists and Special Guests

Jill DeGroff and Dave Wondrich

18/NEW YORK:  NYC cocktail culture blog
TheDizzyFizz.com will ring in the holidays in style on Sunday, December 20,
2009, at The Summit Bar, 133 Avenue C. This invite-only event, gathering the
city’s top mixologists and bar industry professionals, is not only in
celebration of the holidays, but also toasts the six-month mark for
TheDizzyFizz.com as it approaches 20,000 views.

“The Dizzy Fizz Holiday Puncheon,” the event will feature six punches created
by members of the USBGNY (United States Bartending Guild of New York), LUPECNYC
(NYC Chapter of the Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered
Cocktails), and The Summit Bar’s staff. Punches will feature sponsored
ingredients including: Plymouth Gin, Bols Genever, Ron Zacapa 23 Aged Rum,
Bulleit Bourbon, Partida Tequila, Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky, 10 Cane Rum,
Martini & Rossi Prosecco, Gran Marnier Liqueur, Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur, Benedictine Liqueur,
Chartreuse, and Averna Sambuca Agrumi.

Author/illustrator Jill DeGroff, wife of
master mixologist Dale “King Cocktail” DeGroff, will be signing copies of her
new book, “Lush Life: Portraits from Behind the Bar,” to give to attendees,
courtesy of Chartreuse. Cocktail historian and James Beard award-winning author
Dave Wondrich is also expected to attend.

“If those poor, thirsty English
sailors who most likely assembled the first bowl of punch had known, 400-odd
years ago, that they were not only laying the foundation stone of the fine art
of mixing drinks, but also ensuring season upon season of glowing holiday
cheer, would it have added anything to the experience? I hope so, but then
again, punch is its own reward,” said Wondrich, who is currently writing a
book on punch, “Punch, or the Delights and Dangers of the Flowing Bowl.”

“I started The Dizzy Fizz on World Cocktail
Day (May 13, 2009),” said Selena Ricks, creator of TheDizzyFizz.com. “The
response has been far greater than I could have imagined, and I can’t wait to
take the blog to the next level in 2010.”
