Let me start off by saying that I really enjoy bouillon. This drink is basically a dumbed down version of a Bloody Mary. And by that, I mean no tomato juice. Yet this recipe still looks simple and appealing. But, the directions as written here totally ruin this drink. Shaking and straining, waters this cocktail down to the point of total blandness. I couldn’t even finish it (what a waste of vodka).
However, by stirring the drink with ice and then straining, it becomes a revelation. Full of flavor and yet balanced in terms of savoriness, I really enjoyed it. Add a lemon twist, expressing the oils on top of the drink, and you have a killer cocktail.
3oz beef bouillon
1 dash worcestershire sauce
1 pinch salt
1 pinch black pepper
Shake with ice and strain into chilled old-fashioned glass.
