GSN Review: Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve Champagne

995480xEveryday is a day to break open a bottle of champagne!  Why wait until New Year’s Eve?  I know I don’t.

The GSN office was sent a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve recently, and we all decided to crack it open last night.  A few of us opted for straight flutes, while a few others requested a classic champagne cocktail.  (I had both).  What can I say?  It was terrific and everyone loved it.  There’s something celebratory about champagne.  It looks gorgeous in the glass and tastes even better.

What I particularly liked about this style is that the bubbles were tight and dry with a heady dose of yeasty goodness.  The brut aspect was just right with a hint of sweetness, but retaining the character of the Épernay grape blend (20% Chardonnay, 40% of Pinot Noir, and 40% Pinot Meunier).  This makes it ideal for mixing in cocktails, but also great on its own.

For the price point (under $40), this is an exceptional champagne.
