Beach whiskey is an unaged corn-based spirit made in the U.S.
Beach Whiskey (80 proof)
Visual: Clear. (yes, clear)
Nose: Wet dog funk (think moonshine). Some berry fruitiness is apparent after a few seconds.
Taste: Sweet corn and a touch of mint. Some peppery heat.
Finish: Medium long with a mildly fiery harsh quality way on the back palate.
Overall: A bit rough, but not unpleasant. Best used as a mixer in cola drinks or as the base to a fruit punch.
GSN Rating: C+
Island Coconut Whiskey (52 proof)
Nose: Coconut slice candy at the forefront with the funk staying in the backseat.
Taste: At first it tastes like coconut water, but then the corn flavor comes through waving and screaming and makes everything a jumble of odd flavors. Honestly, I don’t know what to make of this. Do corn and coconut belong together in any format?
Finish: The sweetness lingers on, not in an unpleasant way, but in an artificially flavored way.
Overall: A mistake that will only appeal to college-aged first time experimenters.
GSN Rating: D-
Bonfire Cinnamon Whiskey (70 proof)
Nose: Sort of like Big Red gum or a Fireball candy, but milder.
Taste: Sort of like Big Red gum or a Fireball candy, but more intense. I actually like this one. It has more character than let’s say Goldschläger. Not sure what I’d use it for other than shots, but still. The cinnamon flavor is quite intense and spicy while at the same time very candy-like.
Finish: Long, long, lingering cinnamon prickling the taste buds.
Overall: Better than expected. Use this in place of cinnamon schnapps or Aftershock Hot & Cool liqueur.
GSN Rating: B-
