San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing Co. is bringing back its Winter Wheat seasonal. Launched for the first time last year, Winter Wheat is a 7%-abv dark wheat beer made with a blend of several malts, red winter wheat, ale yeast and Northern Brewer hops. The returning entry will be available nationwide through January in six-packs and on draft, alongside Anchor’s annual Christmas Ale seasonal, which is currently in its 41st edition.
Connecticut importer U.S. Beverage will introduce a new Radler offering under the Moosehead beer brand next spring. A blend of beer with natural fruit flavors including grapefruit, grape and lemon, Moosehead Radler is 4% abv. The new entry will debut nationwide, line-priced with the core Moosehead brand at $6.99 a six-pack of cans and $11.99 a 12-pack.
Scottish craft brewer Innis & Gunn is releasing a new winter seasonal, Bourbon Aged Dark Ale, to the U.S. The 7.4%-abv beer is made with the brewer’s house ale malt, crystal and toasted malts, roasted barley and Super Styrian Goldings hops. It’s aged in Innis & Gunn’s Oakerator oak-aging system with Bourbon-infused American oak. Bourbon Aged Dark Ale is available in 22.3-ounce bottles retailing at around $8.99.
Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing has launched Blackberry Barley Wine. A play on a classic English barley wine recipe, the 10%-abv entry is made with Munich and Caramunich malts, Nugget hops and whole oats, and later brewed with fresh blackberries at the end of fermentation. Blackberry Barley Wine, which is currently available in 22-ounce bombers and on draft, marks the latest entry in New Belgium’s limited edition Lips of Faith series.
California craft brewers Sierra Nevada and Stone Brewing have collaborated to produce Stone & Sierra Nevada NxS IPA. To create the beer, two versions of a barrel-aged India Pale Ale—one aged in gin-infused Bourbon barrels and the other in rye whiskey barrels—were blended with a dry-hopped version of the same brew featuring Magnum, Amarillo, Chinook, Centennial, Mosaic and Cascade hops. The 8.2%-abv Stone & Sierra Nevada NxS IPA is available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft at select retailers.
