Oregon’s Pelican Brewing is debuting a Latin-inspired lager, Pelicano Extra, next month. Billed as a 5.1% abv sessionable beer paying homage to Latin American lagers, Pelicano is brewed with 6-row malt, 25% flaked corn and Tettnang hops. Previously available only on draft, Pelicano is set to roll out in six-packs, 22-ounce bottles and as part of Pelican’s new mixed 12-pack across the company’s distribution territory of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii and Vermont.
Victory Brewing Company is launching the latest entry in its culinary-inspired Blackboard Series. Available from July through December, the Pennsylvania-based brewer’s Berliner Weisse with Elderflower is billed as a wheat ale, brewed with Hallertauer Hallertau hops. The limited edition will be sold across Victory’s 37-state footprint, packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($10). Berliner Weisse with Elderflower marks the third edition in the Blackboard Series, following the debut of Agave IPA with Grapefruit and Dry-Hopped Brett Pils earlier this year. A fourth and final expression—Oatmeal Porter with Hazelnut—will round out 2016’s Blackboard lineup in October.
Hershey, Pennsylvania-based Tröegs Independent Brewing has released Nimble Giant, a new double IPA. Initially developed as part of the brewer’s small-batch Scratch Series program, the 9%-abv expression features Mosaic, Azacca and Simcoe hops and will be available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans across Tröegs’ 11-market footprint. Nimble Giant will also be sold in limited 16-ounce single cans, four-packs, cases, growlers, crowlers, 3-liter bottles and on draft at the brewer’s Hershey headquarters.
The Bronx Brewery is set to launch a new limited release beer under its B-Sides series, Boom Boom White IPA. Billed as a balanced, dry-hopped white IPA with big floral and tropical aromas, the 8.1% abv brew will be available in select New York City accounts from July through August.
Montreal, Canada’s Unibroue is adding to its Éphémère series of fruit beers with the limited release of Éphémère Blueberry. The Belgian-style white ale featuring blueberries is available in the U.S. and Canada in 750-ml. cork-and-cage bottles retailing at $8-$9, as well as on draft. Unibroue, based in Quebec, brews more than 15 beer brands including La Fin du Monde, Blanche de Chambly and Trois Pistoles.
Hawaii-based Kona Brewing Company, part of Craft Brew Alliance (CBA), is introducing its flagship Big Wave Golden Ale in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans nationwide for the first time this summer. Big Wave (4.4% abv) is brewed with Caramel 20 and Pale 2 Row Premium malts and a blend of Millennium, Galaxy and Citra hops. The Kona brand has been a growth driver for CBA, posting a 17% rise in shipments in 2015 and 19% depletions growth through the first quarter of this year.
Seattle-based Redhook Brewery is extending its year-round lineup with the launch of a new American Pale Ale. Rolling out nationwide this month, Redhook’s American Pale Ale is made with Chinook and Cascade hops and Pale, Munich and Caramel malts. The 4.7%-abv expression joins the ESB, Long Hammer IPA and Extra Special Lager labels in the brewer’s existing year-round range.
