GSN Review: AMASS Copenhagen Vodka & Los Angeles Dry Gin

In light of the recent COVID-19 concerns, AMASS female Master Distiller Morgan McLachlan was feeling vulnerable – she is pregnant with her first child and noticed hand sanitizer was sold out nearly everywhere. She decided to turn her gin into a hand wash for herself and her co-workers, and after posting it on Instagram, AMASS immediately received an influx of requests. AMASS currently offers a Dry Gin (with 29 botanicals, including nootropic and adaptogenic ingredients like reishi mushroom and ashwagandha) and a botanical Copenhagen Vodka. Their plan is to introduce a whole lifestyle of balanced and mindful botanic products that encourage today’s consumer to take their pleasure seriously. 

AMASS Copenhagen Vodka (80 proof)
Visual: Clear.
Nose: Clean, bright and slightly floral.
Taste: A warm and dare I say creamy mouthfeel, that has a touch of floweriness and vanilla. Very clean, refreshing and engaging.
Finish: Medium long with some minerality adding to a crisp finish.
Overall: We’ve been loving this vodka. For a flavored vodka, this excels.

AMASS Los Angeles Dry Gin (90 proof)
Visual: Clear.
Nose: A balance of juniper and citrus greets the nose with a lively perfume.
Taste: Very bright with a lot of high citrus notes floating over the top of a more mid-range juniper. The other flavors here are dry, herbal and slightly spicy. However they’ve been adapted into the recipe, they are subtle and only give the slightest nod on the palate.
Finish: Medium long with a subtle woody edge at the finish line.
Overall: An excellent gin that stands well on its own. Confident and at the same time unassuming, this is a perfect gin for high quality gin-forward cocktails.
