GSN Review: Barrell Bourbon Batch 026

Barrell Craft Spirits is an independent blender and bottler of unique aged, cask-strength sourced whiskey and rum spirits, that is recognized for its blending expertise. The company selects and blends products that explore different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments, and bottles them at cask strength. Every batch and single barrel is produced as a limited release and has a distinct flavor profile.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 026 was created by combining 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15-year-old barrels in several blending steps. The first was a fusion of 9-year-old high rye barrels, 10-year-old oak forward barrels, and sweet, toasty 11-year-old barrels. The second balanced citrus forward 10, 12 and 15-year-old barrels with spicy, floral 9-year-old high rye barrels. These two blends were gradually co-mingled resulting in an intriguing bourbon.

GSN’s Thoughts: This is one amazing bourbon. The intensity of the proof is diffused by the incredible, near coffee-like flavor of the spirit. At first sweet, but in the next second you find the spiciness of rye, then a velvety caramel flavor quickly becomes oaky, with a cascading flavor that hits all the marks. What amazed the GSN staff is that you can enjoy it neat, without the typical burn you’d find in a cask strength whiskey. Truly amazing, and a fantastic whiskey that everyone should try at least once in their lives.
GSN Rating: A+++

  1. I mean, I can *get* it (it’s at stores in the US that deliver for, like, $75-$85 US) but would like to drink it before 2022.
