Heimat New York, a New-York based maker of seasonal, award-winning craft liqueurs, has recently expanded its portfolio with the addition of an Elderflower liqueur – the first to be produced in Westchester County, New York. Crafted using hand picked flowers from a Hudson Valley farm, the liqueur is a more fragrant, less sweet alternative to traditional Elderflower liqueurs and only produced once a year when the flowers are at their peak blossom.
Traditionally crafted by founder Ute Londrigan, just as her grandmother did 100 years ago, Heimat New York’s collection of liqueurs includes Rhubarb, White Peach, Raspberry, Blackberry, Cranberry, Bosc Pear, Nectarine and Elderflower.
GSN’s Remarks: Heimat excels at crafting fruit liqueurs, and this latest flowery expression hits all the marks. Many elderflower liqueurs can be overly sweet and cloying, this one is anything but. From the first taste, you’re hit with a bright, tart flavor that also has a light mouthfeel. At 18% abv, this is just right to bring out the elderflower quality, and at the same time make its presence known in a mixed drink. Lovely to sip as an after dinner treat, this is also begging for experimentation in new cocktails. Well done! GSN Rating: A+
