GSN Review: La Gioiosa Prosecco

Christmas in Italy means celebrations and the wine for celebrating per eccellenza is indisputably a sparkling one. Celebrate the holiday season and the New Year with La Gioiosa Prosecco. La Gioiosa means “the joyous”, so this holiday season while your wine-ing, dining and celebrating with those most dear to you, uncork some Italian prosecco and toast to Italian joy.

La Gioiosa Prosecco Treviso DOC – La Gioiosa Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine which comes from the Venetian region. La Gioiosa Prosecco Treviso is a light-bodied wine with a pale straw color, and a fruity and flowery aroma with fine aromatic and citrine hints. In Venice, the locals like to serve it throughout the meal. GSN’s Remarks: A slightly sweet prosecco that does indeed work very well with a meal. Refreshing, light and fruity, it is a perfect sparkler to get the party started. GSN Rating: B+

La Gioiosa Prosecco Superiore DOCG – Straw yellow in color, La Gioiosa Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG offers aromas of acacia flowers and citrus on the nose. On the palate, it delivers notes of peach and tropical fruits. And it’s fine, lingering bubbles make for a clean finish. An excellent aperitif, this wine will also pair well with seafood appetizers and light first courses. GSN’s Remarks: We do like this one with oysters, sushi and cheeses such as brie or parmegiano reggiano. It also makes for a refreshing “Champagne Cocktail” if you’re watching your pocketbook. GSN Rating: A-
