Located in Le Francois, Habitation Clément is the birthplace of Rhum Agricole and carries the culture of an ancient Créole sugarcane plantation rich with French West Indian history, which has been completely refurbished by the Hayot family to remain a Martiniquean cultural icon for centuries.
Clément V.S.O.P. Rhum Agricole Vieux is aged a minimum of four years in virgin Limousin barriques and re-charred Bourbon casks.
GSN’s Thoughts: A sweet rum with baking spice, slight smoke, and a nutty mid-range. A good example of an aged rhum agricole.
GSN Rating: A-
Clement Creole Shrubb is a blend of white and aged Agricole Rhums, married with macerated Créole spices and sun-bleached bitter orange peels.
GSN’s Thoughts: If you’ve had a triple sec or an orange curacao, you find familiar ground here. Quite sweet, with the orange character dominating the flavor profile, this makes for an excellent modifier for cocktails and punches.
GSN Rating: B+
Mahina Coco Liqueur is crafted with pieces of coconut soused with Rhum Agricole.
GSN’s Thoughts: Again, if you’ve had Malibu or a coconut rum, this is in the same vein. Very sweet, with a lot of sugary coconut flavor. Nice to add to a tiki style cocktail or in a pineapple juice highball.
GSN Rating: B
