GSN Brews News: July 6th 2021 Edition

Atlanta, Georgia-based SweetWater Brewing is partnering with Broken Coast Cannabis to launch SweetWater Broken Coast BC Lager. The new release is at 5.5% abv and does not contain cannabis, but was inspired by some of the weed strains in Broken Coast’s portfolio. The lager is available in the U.S. on draft and will launch in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans on July 12. SweetWater is also launching 710 Double IPA this month along with Charlie’s Choice: A Conservation Ale, the latter benefitting the Atlanta Zoo.

San Diego, California-based Karl Strauss Brewing Company is launching All The Peels Fruited IPA, the latest in its collaboration series. This release is a collaboration with Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati, Ohio and was brewed with the peel and puree of blood oranges from California and Oregon along with Cascade, Crystal, Columbus, and Chinook hops. All The Peels launches on July 1 and will be available on draft and in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans at all Karl Strauss brewpub locations and at select retailers in California and Arizona.

Hood River, Oregon-based Full Sail Brewing is debuting Lazy Summer Haze, the latest in their Strong Current Double IPA Series. It’s brewed with Sabro, Mosaic, and Ekuanot hops and comes out at 8.5% abv with notes of citrus, mango, and melon. Lazy Summer is fittingly available now through September when it will be replaced by Wreck the Halls for the holiday season. Full Sail has been brewing since 1987.

San Diego, California-based Cutwater Spirits is adding a Piña Colada to its line-up of ready-to-drink cocktails. The new release is made with the distillery’s Bali Hai Rum and coconut cream liqueur and is at 13% abv. It joins Cutwater’s more than 20 canned cocktails and the recently launched Vodka Transfusion. Cutwater Piña Colada is available now nationwide in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans.

GSN Brews News: January 19th 2021 Edition

Escondido, California’s Stone Brewing has added Neverending Haze as the newest low-abv beer to join Stone’s year-round lineup. The 4% abv ale is brewed with Mosaic and Citra hops, and a yeast strain that produces citrus flavors. The brew is now available on draft and in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans across the U.S. Neverending Haze is the second beer from Stone’s Pilot Series to make the jump to year-round availability, following last year’s Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager.

Clackamas, Oregon’s Portland Cider Co. has launched Ciderade, a new sessionable and low calorie cider made from locally sourced apples with added sea salt for electrolytes. The brand will feature several releases each year with a lemon-lime flavored cider as its initial offering. The 4% abv cider comes in at fewer than 100 calories and has 3.5 grams of sugar. The lemon-lime release will be available through April and will be followed by a strawberry-flavored cider for the summer and an orange-flavored cider for the fall. The series will be available in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans, individual 19.2-ounce cans, and on draft in Oregon, Washington, and northern California.

Oregon-based Full Sail Brewing has introduced Haze of the Gods Double IPA as the latest release in its Strong Current Double IPA Series. Brewed with Strata and Mosaic hops, the newcomer is at 8.5% abv and will be available from now through April in four-packs of 16-ounce cans. Haze of the Gods will be followed in the Strong Current series by Lazy Summer Haze Double IPA, an unfiltered brew that will be available from May through August.

GSN Brews News: November 10th 2020 Edition

The Baltimore-based Guinness Open Gate Brewery has added two new barrel-aged beers—Gingerbread Spiced Stout and an Imperial Stout. The spiced beer comes in at 11% abv and is brewed with allspice, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg; and the brand’s Imperial offering is at 10.3% abv. Both beers matured in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. They will be available for a limited time in 4-packs of 11.2-ounce bottles for around $20. Both will also be available on tap at the Diageo-owned Open Gate Brewery through the holiday season.

Hood River, Oregon-based Full Sail Brewing is launching the first installment in its new Strong Current Double IPA Series. The series will consist of three seasonal releases, beginning this month, and lasting through December, with Wreck the Halls, a hybrid of a double IPA and Winter Warmer brewed with Centennial hops that clocks in at 8.5% abv. Haze of the Gods Double IPA will take over in January and last through April. May through August will be the window for Lazy Summer Haze Double IPA, an unfiltered brew strong on berry and tropical fruit aroma. Like Wreck the Halls, both Haze of the Gods and Lazy Summer Haze are at 8.5% abv. Strong Current series releases will be sold in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans retailing at $10.

Comstock Park, Michigan’s Perrin Brewing Company has debuted two new winter variety packs to retailers throughout the state. First up is Perrin’s Barrel Aged Specialty pack, containing two 22-ounce bottles—one of Perrin Reserve, a 12.8% abv Imperial stout, and one of Malted Milk Ball, a 12% abv Imperial porter brewed with cacao nibs—and a 10-ounce glass exclusive to the two-pack. Additionally, Perrin has released the Winter Warmer variety 12-pack, featuring four 12-ounce cans each of the brewery’s Coffee Latte Ale, Black Ale, and Blonde Porter.
