GSN Brews News: November 2nd 2021 Edition

Minneapolis, Minnesota’s Tattersall Distilling has added a Corpse Reviver #2 to its line of RTD cocktails. The new RTD, the sixth release in Tattersall’s cocktail portfolio, comes in at 30% abv and is made with the distillery’s own gin and absinthe. The new cocktail joins Cosmo Bianco, Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Salty Dog and Bootlegger in the brand’s RTD range and is now available throughout Tattersall’s distribution footprint in 100-ml. bottles.

Southern Comfort, part of the Sazerac portfolio, has released a new Holiday Cocktail pack and an eggnog mixer ahead of the 2021 holiday season. The Holiday Cocktail pack ($25) features 24 50-ml. bottles split between the brand’s original release, its Black offshoot, and its 50% abv variant. The brand has also released two non-alcoholic eggnogs, meant to serve as a cocktail base or as a non-alcoholic drink. The eggnogs retail for $3 and come in Traditional and Vanilla Spice flavors. 

Beam Suntory’s Hornitos Tequila has expanded its line of spirits-based RTDs with a new pineapple-flavored canned cocktail. The 5% abv release has 112 calories per 12-ounce serving and comes in 4-packs of a 12-ounce cans retailing for around $12. The new pineapple flavor follows the RTDs’ launch in March with Lime and Mango seltzers.

Dogfish Head has augmented its lineup of ready-to-drink offerings with two new canned cocktails: Blood Orange & Mango Vodka Crush and Lemon & Lime Gin Crush (both 7% abv). Both are available nationally now in 4-packs of 355-ml. slim cans. The new entries join the existing Strawberry & Honeyberry Vodka Lemonade, Blueberry Shrub Vodka Soda, and Cherry Bergamot Whiskey Sour in Dogfish Head’s canned cocktail range.

Ballast Point is releasing fall seasonal Pumpkin Down in 6-packs of 16-ounce cans. The seasonal brew begins with a base of Ballast Point’s Piper Down Scottish Ale, augmented with roasted pumpkin and spice. The 5.8% beer is debuting both in cans and on draft, and will be available at the company’s taprooms as well as Home Brew Mart and online for delivery throughout California.

Guinness has launched Gingerbread Stout, a new limited-release beer, from the Diageo brand’s Maryland-based Open Gate Brewery. The 6% abv stout is made with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and ginger. Guinness Gingerbread Stout is available for a limited time in 6-packs of 11.2-ounce bottles throughout the mid-Atlantic region and at Open Gate.

Downingtown, Pennsylvania’s Victory Brewing Company has entered the hard seltzer market with Victory Waves, a new release that marks the brewery’s 25th anniversary. Victory Waves comes in Lime, Mango, Mixed Berry, and Orange, each at 5% abv and with 100 calories per 12-ounce serving. The seltzers are rolling out this month in a 12-can variety pack throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, and Washington D.C.

New York City-based Craft+Carry has announced a sixth location, the company’s first outpost on the Upper West Side. The new location is on Amsterdam Avenue between 82nd and 83rd streets, and features growler and crowler refills, plus a wide selection of local and craft beers in bottles and cans. To celebrate the grand opening, Craft+Carry collaborated with local brewer Finback to create Slice of Sunshine, a 6.5% abv IPA with blood orange, guava, and Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe hops.

Brooklyn, New York’s Sixpoint Brewery has announced Party Poppers, a new variety 12-pack of hard seltzers, marking the brewery’s entry into the popular category. All of Sixpoint’s seltzers come in at 5% abv and 100 calories per 12-ounce can and the pack features four flavors: Tiki Lemon Bar, Cucumber Lime Daybreak, Triple Berry Disco, and Passionfruit Orange Guava Punch. Sixpoint’s hard seltzer is set to roll out to the brand’s core northeast markets in May.

Guinness is launching its new Nitro Cold Brew Coffee beer nationwide following a strong response to its limited rollout last month. Brewed using cold brew coffee extract and coffee flavors, the 4% abv offering is a permanent addition to the Guinness portfolio. Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee beer retails at $10 a four-pack of 14.9-ounce cans.

Portland, Maine-based Allagash Brewing Company is launching Truepenny Pilsner, a Belgian-style pilsner with a hint of wild beer flavor. It’s a specialty release that’s being distributed in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans. At 5.1% abv, the beer’s concept was developed through Allagash’s pilot program that allows any employee to submit a beer idea. Truepenny will be available throughout Allagash’s 18-state distribution footprint, which includes much of the eastern seaboard, as well as California and the Chicago area.

Rainier Beer, the historic Seattle brand that’s now owned by Pabst Brewing Co., is releasing a line of Rainier Seltzer. The new line extension will come in Huckleberry, Apple, and Lemon flavors, all at 4.6% abv. Rainier Seltzer will be sold in variety 12-packs of 12-ounce slim cans. Each can contains 90 calories, 0 grams of sugar, and 1 gram of carbohydrates. Rainier Seltzer is now available in stores in Washington and Oregon.

Diageo has announced Guinness Salt & Lime Ale, the latest release from the company’s Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, Maryland. The 5% abv brew is made with Key lime puree and salt sourced from the Chesapeake Bay. While this new release is a world apart from Guinness’ flagship stout, the beers share a yeast strain, according to the company. Guinness Salt & Lime Ale will be available for a limited time in select markets like Maryland; Washington, D.C.; and Northern Virginia in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans for around $11.
