GSN Review: Larceny Barrel Proof Batch No. B522

The second release in the 2022 Larceny Barrel Proof program is Batch No. B522. The “B” is the second in a three-part A, B, C release series. The “5” represents the month it was released, May. The “22” at the end stands for the year of release. Every expression in this annual series is aged six to eight years, bottled straight from the barrel. This is Heaven Hill’s wheated mash bill recipe of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. Larceny Barrel Proof B522 is bottled at 123.8 proof.

GSN’s Remarks: As with each of the barrel proof releases, the variations are slight, but noticable. With this one there is a definite leaning toward maple syrup and nut breads. Of the two releases so far this year, we like this one best. It has a roundness, lovely body and a subtly rumbling heat that wakes up the tastebuds. Another excellent release fromt he folks at Larceny. GSN Rating: A
