GSN Brews News: November 16th 2021 Edition

WeSake, a new canned sake, has launched in the U.S. The Junmai Gingo sake comes in at 13% abv and is made from only rice, water, yeast, and koji. The brand is taking aim at new sake drinkers, as well as those looking for portable alternatives to beer and canned RTDs and wines. WeSake, created by Pablo Rivera, formerly of AB InBev’s ZX Ventures, is now available in New York, California, Connecticut, and Georgia, in 4-packs of 200-ml. cans for a suggested price of $19. Additionally, WeSake is available through the brand’s website.

Waitsfield, Vermont-based Lawson’s Finest Liquids is releasing its Triple Sunshine IPA beyond its taproom for the first time. Triple Sunshine is part of Lawson’s Sunshine series, which includes Sip of Sunshine, Double Sunshine, and Little Sip in addition, with Triple Sunshine the strongest at 10.5% abv and showing a fruity profile featuring pineapple, grapefruit, and lychee. Its expanded availability to nine states including Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania, among others, is part of the brewery’s specialty limited release schedule it launched this spring that previously raised the profile of its Scrag Mountain Pils, Hopcelot IPA, and Kiwi, which featured New Zealand-grown hops; Triple Sunshine will be the final release in the series this year.

GSN Brews News: September 7th 2021 Edition

Corvallis, Oregon-based 2 Towns Ciderhouse is launching an array of ciders in 19-ounce cans. The first to market in the new format is Strawberade, a 6.5% abv pink lemonade cider made with California Meyer lemons along with strawberries and apples from the Pacific Northwest. Strawberade is joined in 19-ounce cans by OutCider, 2 Towns’ unfiltered release made with Jonagold apples and at 5% abv. The new packaging options will be available throughout the cidery’s west coast distribution area that also includes Minnesota.

Austin, Texas-based Canteen Spirits has launched a new line of gin-based canned cocktails. Canteen’s Gin Spritzes come in three flavors—Blossom Gin Spritz with hibiscus and lime, Citrus Gin Spritz with lemon and cucumber, and Ruby Gin Spritz with grapefruit and rosemary—all at 5% abv and available in variety 6-packs of 12-ounce cans and as individual cans.

Vermont-based Lawson’s Finest Liquids has released Kiwi Double IPA in its 9-state distribution footprint. The 8.1% abv ale is brewed with Nelson Sauvin and Pacific Jade hops and was previously a taproom exclusive offering. The beer is part of Lawson’s specialty release series and will be available in September and October. Lawson’s beers are sold in Vermont, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

Baltimore, Maryland-based DuClaw Brewing Company is releasing Lemonade Stand by Me, a hopped sour made with raspberries and Meyer lemon puree. The label features a lemonade stand design and a QR code that can be scanned to access a music playlist to accompany the beverage. It’s at 7.1% abv and is available now in 12-ounce cans and on draft at select locations across DuClaw’s 22-state distribution area.

GSN Brews News: July 13th 2021 Edition

Waitsfield, Vermont-based Lawson’s Finest Liquids is launching two limited-edition beers. The first is Hopcelot IPA, a 7% abv offering brewed with eight hop varieties spanning the Pacific Northwest, Australia, and New Zealand. Its name is a reference to “Ocelot” by Vermont band Phish. The second release is Super Session #8, returning to the market as part of Lawson’s Super Session single hop IPA series; it’s made with Mosaic hops and is at 4.8% abv. Both will be available through the end of August across Lawson’s Finest’s nine-state distribution area in the northeast.

Jack Daniel’s is adding Tennessee Apple Fizz to its line of Jack Daniel’s Canned Cocktails. Made with the brand’s eponymous whiskey, the new RTD is at 7% abv and joins Tennessee Whiskey & Cola and Tennessee Whiskey, Honey & Lemonade in the lineup. It’s priced at $13 a 4-pack and is available now in 16 U.S. states including California, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas, among others.

Deep Eddy vodka is debuting new RTD vodka sodas. Including lemon and ruby red flavors, the newcomers are at 4.5% abv and retail at $12 a four-pack of cans. They’re launching initially across Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, and Maryland.

Texas-based Austin Eastciders is bringing back their Maker’s Stash series with a new limited-edition release. The new addition to the cidery’s lineup is Lemon Ginger, a 6.5% abv offering made with bittersweet apples alongside lemons and ginger. The brand also brought in fellow Texan and illustrator Lauren Dickens to provide the art for Lemon Ginger’s can. It will be available for $14 a 6-pack of 12-ounce cans at retail locations in Austin Eastciders’ 20-state distribution footprint.

GSN Brews News: April 13th 2021 Edition

Vermont-based Lawson’s Finest Liquids is returning seasonal entry Knockout Blonde across its nine-state footprint. Knockout Blonde (5% abv) is made of a blend of North American malts and Cascade and Centennial hops. It’s rolling out now in 4-packs to retailers throughout Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Knockout Blonde will be on the market through April and May, after which Lawson’s will move on to distributing its next specialty beers, Scrag Mountain Pils and Scrag Mountain Pils Salt & Lime.

GSN Brews News: June 9th 2020 Edition

Vermont-based Lawson’s Finest Liquids has introduced Little Sip IPA. Billed as a younger cousin to Lawson’s flagship Sip of Sunshine IPA, Little Sip is 6.2% abv brew with a similar hop-forward character to Sip of Sunshine, but with a slightly lower alcohol content. It’s rolling out in four-packs of 16-ounce cans in Vermont beginning June 29. The Lawson’s range also includes Knockout Blonde, Above the Clouds Golden Ale, Hopzilla Double IPA, and Scrag Mountain Pils, among others.

Dogfish Head is launching a new limited-edition lineup of 4-packs of 16-ounce cans. The first entry is called Covered In Nuggs, a 6.7% abv IPA, which is now available for curbside pickup at $16 a four-pack at its Dogfish emPourium location. Other forthcoming 16-ounce can releases will include Dogfish throwback brews like Chicory Stout, Indian Brown, and Raison D’Etre, as well as brewpub exclusives and collaboration beers. Meanwhile, the craft brewer plans to reopen its Brewings & Eats, Chesapeake & Maine, and Dogfish Inn locations on June 12.

Escondido, California-based Stone Brewing is releasing Stone Notorious P.O.G. Berliner Weisse. The beer was inspired by comedian Johah Ray when he collaborated with the brewery and drew from his childhood in Hawaii, where he drank “POG Juice,” a blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava juice. It is at 4.7% abv and will hit retail shelves the week of July 25, available nationwide for a limited time in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans, as well as 19.2-ounce cans and 22-ounce bottles.

Tempe, Arizona craft brewer Four Peaks Brewing Co. has partnered with The Joy Bus on a new beer. The Joy Bus is a program founded by restaurateur Jennifer Carraway that delivers meals to homebound cancer patients. Together the two companies collaborated on The Joy Bus RAD IPA, a west coast-style IPA brewed with Rakau, Azacca, and Dr. Rudi hops. Available now throughout Arizona at independent grocery and liquor stores, it is at 6% abv and a percentage of every bottle, 6-pack, and keg sold will be donated to The Joy Bus. Four Peaks distributes throughout the Southwest and Hawaii.
