GSN Presents: The 2017 Advent Gift Guide – Day 7

It’s Day 7 of the GSN Advent Gift Guide!  Today, we share something a little bit different. Karen Hoskin, co-founder of Montanya Distillers, has partnered up with two others to launch a new venture. Given her huge connection to the spirits world, we thought her latest venture may interest you.

“I travel a ton for work and play. I was relentlessly handed convenience trash – throw-away coffee cups, plastic water bottles and to-go containers, shopping bags, produce bags. It made my heart sick, but I couldn’t figure out how to refuse it,” said Karen Hoskin, one of the co-founders who also owns Montanya Distillers, a craft distillery that she operates with a low-waste philosophy.

Karen and her friends Elizabeth Smith, and Jennifer Brody, gathered together in their kitchens to find a way to refuse single-use trash all day every day. Unexpectedly, it took eight months of product testing and many failures to come up with the solutions they sought. Thus Zoetica, \zōˈetik a\, was born. The founders knew that others could benefit from their research, design, and product vetting, so they created a social entrepreneurship company to share what they had designed for themselves. Zoetica is a lifestyle and a system that elevates the style, convenience, space-saving nature and quality of the zero and low-waste life. Think of it as a “leave no trace” ethos for every day.

Zoetica’s revolutionary kits are easy to drop in a purse, tote, computer bag, or backpack. They become an indispensable replacement for nearly every trash item. Whether at the coffee shop, dining out, traveling on airplanes, or shopping, Zoetica’s products make it possible to say “no” to throw-away convenience trash without sacrificing style and space. Our favorite is The Warrior, a complete system for everyday use.

Zoetica’s Warrior includes:

  • A gorgeously designed purse/tote with side pockets

  • Reusable double-walled stainless steel coffee cup and water bottle

  • Inner bag containing two stainless to-go containers with leakproof tops, nested for space efficiency

  • Organic cotton napkin

  • Market shopping tote

  • Produce bag

  • Cutlery

  • Straw

Numerous sizes, styles, and colors are available, as well as options for men and women.
