GSN Review: Oak & Eden 4 Grain and Maple Bourbon

Oak & Eden Finished Whiskey debuted a new limited-time release this spring: 4 Grain & Maple. This small-batch release features 4 Grain bourbon finished with a maple syrup soaked American Oak spire. After bottling its fully-aged four grain bourbon, with a mash bill of 55% corn, 18% rye, 22% wheat, 5% malted barley, the brand places a maple syrup soaked American Oak spire in the bottle for In-Bottle Finishing.

GSN’s Remarks: The maple comes through on the nose with a sweet, breakfasty scent. On the palate, the effect is more subtle, with the maple sugar coming out on the finish, leaving a long, lingering syrup flavor. We like the 90 proof, which adds more to the bourbon character and allows it to shine. We’ve really been enjoying this in the GSN offices, as we agree it makes for an excellent shot, sipper or the base spirit in a classic cocktail like an Old Fashioned. GSN Rating: A-
