Schlafly Beer recently announced the release of Tropical Saison (7.5% ABV), a new summer offering in the independent craft brewery’s portfolio, as well as the return to cans for a seasonal favorite, Summer Lager (4.5% ABV). Tropical Saison is available in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans, while Summer Lager returns for the first time in 12-packs of 16-ounce cans.
Both Tropical Saison and Summer Lager are available across Schlafly’s distribution as well as the Schlafly brewpubs. Tropical Saison (7.5% ABV): This hazy, golden hued beer is fermented with passionfruit during the saison process. The beach-inspired brew is a crisp and light beer with all the refreshing tastes of the tropics. GSN’s Thoughts: The passionfruit is slightly tart and adds a bright top note to the overall flavor profile. It goes down easy, but be careful with that higher ABV. Summer Lager (4.5% ABV): This sessionable Helles-Style Summer Lager offers a smooth, maltier and hoppier alternative to light lagers. The malt imparts a fresh grain character, while the German hops lends notes of spice and lemon. GSN’s Thoughts: The lager is light, creamy and has a mellow flavor. Just right for a hot day. Closer in style to a German lager than a Mexican lager, this one is a keeper for sure. GSN Rating: A
